HOUSE RULES

#1 RULE

We are all here to have fun first and foremost.  If you detract from the group having a good time you can have your invitation revoked and be asked to leave the game/house.

#2 RULE

The Doghouse name was chosen because we have and love our dogs. They run free at our house during the game.

If you have issues with dogs, this is not the game for you!

We allow others to bring dogs as well but please call and talk to me before showing up with your dogs so we don't have issues between animals. There are 2 sectioned off fenced areas that we can corral dogs that decide not to get along but if a dog does not like a player...we will as the player to leave before punishing the dog. (kidding a little)

General Rules for Poker Tournaments

We will follow most TDA rules with minor variances. As host Sean will act as TD and make final decision on all rulings. Those decision will be made as fairly as possible but it is Sean's home so be nice to him! TDA rules can be found here: https://www.pokertda.com/view-poker-tda-rules/

  • Please check your firearms at the door. CONCELED OR OTHERWISE NO FIREARMS ARE ALLOWED IN HOUSE!!!
  • No smoking. No spitting. No farting upwind.
  • The house has the authority to close any game at any time.
  • The house has the authority to remove any player, at any time, for any period of time.
  • The 'dead button' rule will be used.
  • Do not place anything on the poker table except your cards, your chips, and your drink.
  • Keep your cards and chips on the poker table and in plain view.
  • Keep your big chips out front.
  • Never touch another player's cards or chips.
  • Do not splash the pot.
  • Do not bend or mark the cards.
  • Only one player to a hand.
  • Players may not show their live cards.
  • Players who are all-in must reveal their hands when no further action is possible.
  • The cards speak for themselves.
  • Do not reveal your folded cards, either physically or verbally if any action is pending.
  • String bets are not allowed.
  • Check-raising is acceptable and ... encouraged!
  • Unless you suspect cheating, please do not ask to view a hand that has been called.
  • Rabbit hunting is only allowed if players involved in the pot and the dealer agree, 1 person dissenting to the rabbit cards ends discussion.
  • Chopping (splitting) blinds is not permitted.
  • Straddle bets are not permitted.
  • Insurance is not permitted.
  • Only the English language may be spoken at the table.
  • No speaking on the phone at a table.
  • Be kind to the dealer and to other players.
  • Immediately inform the Tournament Director when a player has been eliminated.
  • No cheating! Remember, a Smith & Wesson beats five aces!

WSOP style Tournaments

When the quarterly or semi-annual games come around that are intended to assist players in getting to the WSOP in LV then we will follow the WSOP rules.  WSOP follows TDA pretty closely but does have some variation. WSOP list thier rules online each year and the last posting can be found here: https://www.wsop.com/2021/2021_WSOP_Tournament_Rules.pdf

WSOP blinds and timers will be used including big blind ante during these larger games.

Tipping Dealers

Though tipping is voluntary and no one will be kicked out for forgetting to tip; if you regularly decide not to tip there is the possibility you don't get an invite to future games.  There is no entry fee, no rake on cash and no money removed from the tournament or prop pots so the only money the dealers make is from tips. They have absolutely no control over the cards you receive and are giving up their afternoon to stay sober and pitch cards. Please don't make tipping an issue.

Cash

There is no ATM on site and players are expect to bring any money they plan on playing with. Do not expect anybody to have extra cash to Venmo/Zelle/Cashapp to you as the house will not have extra on hand. Closest ATM is located at the Meadows Market but there is no guarantee it is up and running. BRING ENOUGH CASH FOR THE GAMES YOU WANT TO PLAY!!

Cash Table

  • The dealer is in control of the table and will be final decision in most matters!
  • If the Dealer needs assistance "HE/SHE" will call the floor over, then Sean or Jan will make the final decision.
  • Bomb pots can only be played every other deal. This means if a player chooses a bomb pot when he gets the button, he/she will get a second button that will play 1-2 NLH (or the primary game)
  • Not required but we ask you an announce your departure.
  • Chips will NOT be colored up on the table unless change has to be made.

Reservations & No-Show Policy

  • When you reserve a seat at a game, you commit to playing in that game.
  • Can’t play? You MUST inform the host ASAP
  • Reserving a seat then not showing up hurts the game and is disrespectful to the host and to the other players.
  • If something comes up and you can’t play, you MUST inform the host ASAP.
  • Failure to do so risks not being welcome in future (e.g. your reservation may be bumped or deleted).
  • Life happens, but no-shows can prevent other willing players (i.e. people on the waiting list) from playing and can shorten games — very uncool.
  •  In a cash game, it’s okay to join the game late. Just be sure to let the host know of your plans (and changes to plans!) ASAP.
  • The host reserves the right to prioritize reservations and give preferential treatment.

HIgh Hand Prop

  • 2 cards must be in the players hand/ hole card to win high hand pot.
  • Action must play out to the river though a show down is not required. (if tournament does not have river to be played then last community card must be dealt in normal action or all player cards but be dealt to remaining players; ie 5/7 cards in stud)
  • When a HH pot is paid out it resets to zero. Other HH pots not hit will remain in play and available to win.
  • The buy-in for the HH pots is divided evenly between the 3 HH pots; Quads, Straight Flush & Royal Flush.

  • TV's are for everyone's entertainment, please do not start changing channels without consensus from the group.
